Helio Gutiérrez is an acclaimed award-winning ceramic artist born in San Juan de Oriente, Nicaragua. His pieces may be found internationally in both private and public collections. His work has been featured on Nicaragua’s postage stamps as well as in numerous publications worldwide. In San Juan de Oriente, he is considered the most influential innovator of contemporary pottery, renown for rich textures incorporating sand and “sgraffito” techniques.
