Description

Francisco Zúñiga (1912–1998) was a Costa Rican-Mexican sculptor and painter renowned for his depictions of the human form, particularly the female figure. Based in Mexico, he became a naturalized citizen and blended classical and modern influences in his work. Zúñiga’s sculptures, often in bronze or stone, emphasize the beauty and strength of the human body, especially women, in poses reflecting quiet strength or contemplation. His art, influenced by pre-Columbian and Mexican folk traditions, has a timeless quality and has been exhibited internationally, earning him acclaim and numerous awards.
